The following are general links that relate to ceramics. I hope you
find them useful. If you find any dead links, please report them to
me on the contact page.
International Ceramic Directory - Providing you with links to ceramic
artists, manufacturers, historical sites, marks, museums and more.
Ceramic Supply Store with the biggest variety of clays, tools, glazes,
equipment, pottery wheels, and kilns online and in their store in
Kentucky. This is my primary source of raw materials and clay.
Laguna Clay is a clay manufacturer here in the U.S. Their products in
my opinion reflect their high level of quality control. Nothing but good
things to say about their stonewares and porcelains. I get all my
Laguna clay from Kentucky Mudworks. Their link is directly above.
A wealth of technical information for the serious potter. You can
spend hours here.
The electronic voice of potters worldwide! Subscriber-initiated discussions
range from questions and answers on materials and techniques to business
advice and philosophical debate.
This is my shop on Etsy. Etsy is a place to buy handmade online.
This is my youtube page that hosts the pottery videos on the Hightower
Pottery website.
A manufacturer of electric kilns. I own one of these kilns and in my opinion
they are the best in their class. I have a 1027 model and fire it to cone 10.
Firing to cone 10 does take it's toll on electric kiln elements. When I need a
new set I get them from Stan Horton in Oregon. He's been in the business
over 20 years and knows his stuff. He is cheaper then the manufacturer and
really is as good.
If your working with gas kilns or are planning to, Ward Burner Systems is
a great resource of both information and parts. Give his site a look.
The purpose of NCECA is to promote and improve the ceramic arts through
education, research, and creative practice. NCECA offers programs,
exhibitions and publications that are uniquely beneficial and rewarding to its
membership of artists, educators, students, patrons, retailers and
manufacturers.
Ceramics Monthly is a great magazine for all ceramic arts. Check
your locate Borders bookstore.
Again, another great magazine.
Each issue of Pottery Making Illustrated contains practical information from
experts and professionals presented in a well-illustrated format dealing with
every aspect of pottery making, such as throwing, hand-building, firing,
clays, glazes, tools, and equipment.

The Giffin Grip is an invaluable trimming chuck for leather-hard or bisque
thrown pottery. Designed for pottery trimming, it functions equally well for
waxing the foot and banding with oxides for glazing.
Here is one of those pieces of equipment I don't have but wish I did. If you
need to reclaim large quantities of clay or even mix from scratch, these
pugmill/mixers will do it and deliver homogeneous, air-free clay.
Phil Poburka makes high end trim tools. His tools are hand crafted from
Tungsten Carbide. They are razor sharp and stay that way far longer then
steel trim tool when trimming pottery. Just don't drop them as Tungsten
Carbide pottery tools will break.
Again, another great clay manufacturer. I can highly recommend their
Helios porcelain for working on the potter's wheel. A nice grolleg porcelain.
On February 19, 2008 I started a blog to help archive my News section. Most
recent news will still be here on the Hightower Pottery website and older
